Meet The Superintendent

In May of 2025, the Bell County Board of Education voted unanimously to hire Brian Crawford as the Superintendent of the Bell County School District.

Mr. Crawford began his career in the Bell County School District in 1991 as a volunteer coach and classified staff member before attending Union College (now Union Commonwealth University) to become a teacher. He was proud to begin his teaching career at his alma mater, Bell County High School, in the social studies department. While there, Mr. Crawford continued to coach football and became the first staff member to both teach and drive a school bus, paving the way for many of our teachers today to earn an extra income.

Mr. Crawford left the district for a short time before returning, eventually becoming the Principal of Lone Jack School Center in 2013 and the Principal of Bell County High School in 2018—living true to the statement, “Once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat.” During his tenure, Mr. Crawford saw an increase in test scores and added several career readiness courses at the high school level. This success led to his selection as Superintendent of another school district in Southeastern Kentucky in 2022, where he went on to make significant improvements in a short period of time.

In May of 2025, the members of the Board of Education were proud to bring Mr. Crawford home, where he continues to lead our district with dedication to every student, at every school—every day—drawing on his 32 years of experience in education.
