2018 New Immunization Requirements
SCHOOL IMMUNIZATION REQUIRMENTS UPDATE
Beginning July 1, 2018, all students in preschool through 12th grade must show proof of having received two doses of the Hepatitis A vaccine to attend school. In addition, students aged 16 years or older must show proof of having received two doses of the Meningococcal ACWY (MenACWY) vaccine. If the first dose of MenACWY was received at age 16 or older, the second dose is not required for school entry.
Parents are advised to:
1. Contact their child's healthcare provider to ensure that these vaccines have been given to their child or make an appointment to begin the series.
2. Obtain an updated Kentucky Immunization Certificate from the provider.
3. Turn in a copy of the child’s current/updated immunization certificate to his/her school.
PLEASE NOTE: The two Hepatitis A vaccines are delivered six months apart. We encourage you to plan accordingly and schedule your child’s first Hepatitis A vaccine as soon as possible.
