Bell County School District Wide Storytelling Event
On Thursday, November 16, 2017, the Bell County School District sponsored a district wide Storytelling Event for elementary (3rd – 5th Grade), middle (6th – 8th Grade), and high school (9th – 12th Grade) levels. There were two parts to this competition. Each student had to write their own narrative (real or imagined) and then perform their story for the judges. Individual schools determined their school level winners for each level.
The event was held at Bell County High School auditorium and was judged by Rachel Rogers actress, Rhona Creech storyteller; and Marlene McKenzie Berea GEAR UP school liaison. The audience was fully entertained and engaged as each division of students presented their stories in their own creative style. A short intermission was provided for the judges to deliberate the winners at which time, Ms. Edwina Eldridge entertained with a song selection.
Each school winner was awarded a Medallion for being selected as their school level representative. First, second, and third place trophies and prizes were awarded for each level of competition. First place prize was an Ipad; second place prize was a chromebook; third place prize was an Echo dot.
